That cowboys whoop is always so inspiring and uplifting. A call to celebration and delight. I don’t know any cowboys, never even seen one but we are all bound to have heard that sound on some video, film or in a song. Our kids must have done it. I know I did when I was little, playing with my brothers.
This is how I feel at the beginning of every day, never mind a year. We do start out with excitement and joy. And promises to ourselves. We don’t need to. We are already promised everything that is good, and wonderful. All the time. It doesn’t matter what month, year or moment, we have God’s allness, power and love in our being, just waiting to express itself more We just have to say ‘Yes’.
Below is one of my favourite benedictions we often hear at the end of the Sunday service. It’s from Luke.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
It’s God’s promise to us. It’s our cue to take it, celebrate it, and be who we often forget we are, revelling and yee-ha!-ing all over his Kingdom.
Wishing you all joy every day and every moment.
